The archipelago is divided into two parts that is the south western part which is known as the Bugala and the North eastern part which is known as the Koome. These two groups are separated by the Koome channel. The Bugala consists of the following islands the Bugaba island, Bufumira island, Serinya island, Buyova island, Bubeke island, Funye Island and many more others. The main islands that are located on the Koome group include the Luwaji Island, Koome Island, Damba and Island.
