Kidepo Valley National Park is located in north-eastern side of Uganda. Kidepo valley is known for its true wilderness of an African safari because of its wildlife and nature in the wilderness.
On our 4-day flying safari we get to Kidepo Valley National Park in the short time from Entebbe Airport. This uncovers the scenic flight views from the sky as you fly all the way from Entebbe to Kidepo.
The park is also known for having large herds of African cape buffalos and rare animals like the cheetah which is the fastest land mammal and the ostrich which is the fastest flightless bird.
Kidepo valley national park can also be accessed by road from Kampala to Kidepo valley national park, travel time being 10 hours drive. With the rolling plains of the area, Kidepo Valley National Park is remote yet the most amazing park that gives you a feel of a real African safari experience through landscape, wildlife, game drives through the Narus valley, cultural experience with the people (Karamojong’s) living around the park. Not forgetting the hike to mount Morungole and the indigenous Ik tribe in the mountains.

Day 1 Entebbe Flight to Kidepo Valley National Park
Flight travel time from Entebbe International Airport the park is 1-2 hours

You will be picked up from the hotel with a transfer to Entebbe Airport for your afternoon scenic flight to Kidepo Valley National Park. Scheduled flights are time tabled on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and the time also depends on the routing, park or destination. Aboard your flight, get ready for scenic views right from the airport to the park with more scenic views of nature. On arrival, our driver guide will welcome you and transfer you to your accommodation located within the park. You will relax and refresh at the lodge into the wilderness.
Day 2 Full Day Game Drives

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Have a cup of tea or coffee and drive out for the morning game drive through Kidepo national park. We shall drive to the Narus valley in the southern area of Kidepo and it’s known as a congregation area for most the animals since it has reliable natural water spring. On this wilderness game drive, you will sight animals such as Buffaloes, Elephants, Antelopes, Lions, Zebras and Giraffes among others. After your morning game drive, you shall drive back to the lodge for breakfast. Return to the park after lunch and drive to a different section of the park with view of landscape, stop over at the hot springs (Kanangorok hot springs) expecting to view more game around the area. The Katurum Kopje provides superb views across the valley towards Morungole mountain ranges. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Please note: The Park is also known for cheetahs and ostrich but these are rarely seen in the park.
Day 3 Kejongs Cultural Community Encounter

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
You will have a cup of tea early in the morning before encountering the community of the kejong’s You shall interact with the community and get to know about their ways of living in homestead’s, dress code, historical and cultural background. Drive back to the lodge, relax as you wait for lunch amidst leisure. Have dinner and overnight

Hike Mount Morungole and Visiting the IK tribe
After your early morning breakfast at the lodge, you will get ready to hike to Mt Morungole Mountain. Morungole Mountain is located in the north of the park near the border of Uganda with South Sudan. You will be surprised to know, the mountain is occupied by the indigenous IK tribe also known as” tueso” at times and they are neighbours to the popular kejongs. The culture of the Ik tribe is amazingly outstanding and the Ik language is a member of the highly divergent Kuliak subgroup of Nilo-Saharan languages, this makes it different from all other languages in Uganda.
The Ik are believed to be about 10,000 in number and were known to be hunters before Kidepo valley national park was gazetted into a park.
You will have lunch as you get ready for the cultural performances. On your way back to the lodge enjoy the serenity of the area in great view. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 4 Morning Game Walk with a Flight to Entebbe
Travel Time from Kidepo to Entebbe International Airport is 1 hr 30 minutes
Meal Plan: Breakfast & Lunch
You will have a cup of tea or coffee early in the morning as you head for the morning game walk around the park in sight of wild life and the surrounding plains of the park. You will sight a number of animals like zebras, Buffalos, Elephants and water bucks and birds among others. Drive back to the lodge for breakfast, later check out of the lodge and drive to the airstrip for your afternoon scenic flight back to Entebbe International Airport.

General Tips:
- Flight time to Kidepo is about 1 to 2 hours
- Kidepo valley national can also be explored on land as an option. The drive is 10 hours from Kampala to Kidepo.
- The park is the true wilderness of an African safari experience and one gets to view the eastern rift valley on the hike to Morungole mountain
- Mount Morungole stretches up to 2750 meters above sea level. It means one has to be fit for the 7 to 8 km hike to the Morungole
- Flight time also varies according to routing
Domestic Flights information:
- Please contact us for flight schedules because they on the seasons.
- Standard checked luggage should have: For hand luggage, 30cm height, by 53cm length, 23cm width.
- For soft bags of 60cm height, by 45cm length and 33cm width.
- Luggage allowance for domestic flights within Uganda is limited to 15 kgs per person. Additional luggage of up to 75kgs excess may be allowed at an extra cost. $ 3 is charged by the airline for each extra kilo.
- Flights to and from Murchison Falls NP and Kidepo Valley NP operate with a minimum of 4 Passengers. Please note that if the number is less than required 4 passengers, the flight rule of additional top up for missing passengers applies. - Children under 2 years of ages fly free provided they have no seat occupancy
- Children under 12 years are charged at 70% of the adult fare.
What to bring on your safari:
- Walking boots for the hike and the game walk.
- Sunscreen is essential.
- Insect repellant is recommended.
