On your 4-day gorilla trekking with a hike to the Virunga volcanoes, explore the giant gorillas into the bamboos creating your life time experience. Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is located in southern Uganda at the border of Uganda to Rwanda as well as the Virunga National Park, the Virunga national park is shared by Uganda, Rwanda and the DRC. It is also home to the giant gorillas that are exciting to all tourists on the gorilla tracking experience.
With 8 volcanoes (Muhavura, Gahinga, Sabinyo, Mikeno, Karisimbi, Bisoke, Nyamuragira. Muhavura, Gahinga, Sabinyo shared by Uganda, Rwanda and DRC, on the side of Uganda we have the “trinity volcanoes” that is Mount Muhavura, Mount Gahinga and Sabinyo.
With order in height Muhavura is the highest followed by Gahinga and finally Sabinyo which is located in the centre border of the 3 countries Uganda, Rwanda and DRC. The highest volcano is about 4,000 meters high

Day 1 Transfer from Kampala/Entebbe to Kisoro with a Stopover at the Equator Line Experience
Travel Time from Kampala to Kisoro is 9 – 10 hours

Our driver guide will pick you up on arrival at Entebbe International Airport and drive you to Kisoro District in southern Uganda. We will make a stopover at the equator Line. Proceed on the journey through the communities alongside a serene environment with rolling plains to Kisoro then to your accommodation, rest at the hotel and overnight.
Day 2 Gorilla Tracking Experience in Mgahinga National Park

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
After your early morning breakfast, you shall head to the briefing point to meet the park ranger guides. You will start the trek to track the giant gorillas which may take about 3 to 4 hours or less, we shall come face to face with the humble giants, you will observe the gorillas for 1 hour a life memorable experience.
Mgahinga is home to the endangered giant mountain gorillas. Did you know part of the Virunga volcanoes located between Uganda, Rwanda and Congo. Mgahinga park has one big habituated gorilla family unlike Bwindi which has more sectors and groups. After your trek you will walk back to the vistor center and drive back to our lodge for leisure.
Please note, gorilla trekking can take 1 to 4 hours and when we came across the gorillas we observe them for one hour and later return to the park center to receive our certificates.

Day 3 Volcano Hiking on Virunga Volcanoes Mt. Muhavura, Mt. Gahinga or Mt. Sabinyo (Uganda) – Full Day Hiking

You will hike one of the summits of Virunga Volcanoes in Uganda, Mt. Muhavura (4,127 meters), Mt. Gahinga (3,474 meters) and Mt. Sabinyo (3,669 meters).
Mt. Muhavura is the highest volcano of the Virunga Volcano, above Mount. Sabyinyo and Mount. Gahinga. At the summit a scenic view of landscape like the Virunga Volcanoes, Lake Edward and there is a crater lake on top of the mountain.
Mt. Gahinga is the lowest of the three Virunga volcanoes. The climb is through vegetation at the start accompanied by bamboo forest right next to the slopes of the volcano and the top has a crater. Mount Gahinga is the easy to climb compared to other volcanoes.
Mount Sabyinyo has three peaks located at the border between Uganda, Rwanda and Congo. There are various zones as you climb up we come across the first peak and while here we can sight the neighbouring countries. As you ascend to the second peak, we shall walk on ridges into the gorges of Uganda, Rwanda and DR Congo, at this point in time we shall reach highest and third peak. Did you know! you can witness the 3 east African countries at the same time, Rwanda, DRC, Uganda (At this point you are in 2 countries at the same time and this is amazing. we shall descend and return to the hotel in Kisoro to relax after the full day volcanoes hike.
The 3 peaks of Mount Sabinyo with the first at (3,380 meters), second peak at (3,540 meters) and finally the third and highest peak at (3699 meters).
Note: This volcano is challenging when not fit but still doable
Note. Hiking/climbing the volcano (Gahinga) takes about 6 to 8 hours
After hiking we shall return to the lodge, relax as you wait for dinner.
Day 4 Transfer from the Wilderness to Kampala/Entebbe with a Stopover at the Equator
Travel Time from Mgahinga Gorilla National Park to Kampala or Entebbe is 9 – 10 hours
Meal Plan: Breakfast & lunch
You will enjoy your morning breakfast at the lodge and then your safari guide will transfer you from Mgahinga Gorilla National Park to Kampala capital or Entebbe Airport right on time for your departure flight.
Along the way you shall have lunch packed lunch from the lodge

General Tips on your safari:
- Health is key all trekkers as its key to have your safari and trek the gorillas in a heath condition. Usually clients with infectious diseases like flu are not allowed to track reason being it can easily affect the endangered giant chimps or gorillas.
- The age limit for gorilla tracking is 15 years and above.
- Booking of your gorilla and chimpanzee permits is done in advance in order for you not to miss out on the experience when permits are fully booked.
- A porter can be hired in case you want to be carried for trekking, bags. For the trekking porter or helper, a fee of US$ 15 is charged
- Your flash must be off during photography.
- The recommended distance between clients and gorillas is important for safety
What to bring for your safari:
- Walking boots, long trousers and rain gears as you will be hiking through Bwindi Forest.
- Cloth gloves as you may hold a hiking stick on your trek
- Sun screen is essential
- Mosquito repellant is recommended
- Drinking during the trekking.
- Extra batteries for your camera
