The Ssese Islands with an area of 270 square kilometers is an archipelago of between 50-84 islands found on Lake Victoria, the second largest fresh water lake in the world prominent islands were transformed into tourism centres and destinations in the Pearl of Africa. How to get to island.
Kampala Entebbe routes
The ferry at Nakiwogo landing site in Entebbe sets off at exactly 2:00, our clients are advised to be at the dock by 1:00 pm so that by 1:30 pm you check-in. Travel time to the island is 3 hours 30 minutes.
The ferry departs the island at 8:00 am arriving Entebbe Nakiwogo landing site at 11:00 am.
Water Front Club Entebbe to Kalangala Mv Vanessa to the island.
Mv Vanessa is a luxury boat that sets off at 4:00 pm from Entebbe water front club opposite the zoo for a 1 hour ride to the island.
The ferry is scheduled based on days and time. That is on Friday it sets off at 4:00 pm and on Saturday it offers a sun set cruise from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm.
On Sunday the ferry departs the island at 2:00 pm and arrives Entebbe at 3:00 pm
Second Route on Masaka Side
The ferry that departs from Bukakata near Masaka and Bugoma on the western side of the island and its 36 km from Masaka. It leaves Bukakata at 8:00am,11:00 am, 2:00 pm and 5:00pm from Monday to saturday and return at 9:00am, 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm.
On Sunday the ferry can either cross 2 or 3 times a day that is 11:00 am, 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm respectively.
On the side of Masaka with luku island on Bugala islands is about 30 minutes to Bugoma with a 45 minutes’ drive to the hotel.
Activities one can do include: Boat Rides, Fishing, Sun bathing, Swimming, Volley ball, Forest walks, Quad biking, Bicycle rides and speed boat rides etc.
Day 1 Transfer from Kampala / Entebbe to Ssese Island
Travel time from Nakiwogo to the island is 3 to 4 hours.

Meal Plan: Dinner You will be picked up from your location in either Kampala or Entebbe to Nakiwogo before 1:00 pm, then board the MV Kalangala ferry in first class to the Ssese Islands. Enjoy the fresh breeze and gently sail over the world’s second largest fresh water lake; Lake Victoria that offers you views of numerous islands, the beautiful white sand beaches as well as a number of water birds. The Ssese archipelago is found southwest of the on-Lake Victoria which comprises of 84 different islands, the Bugala Island and the Banda islands are famous for tourism. While at the island’s animals such as the vervet monkeys, Colobus monkeys and diversity of bird species.
Day 2 Nature walks and Canoeing with Leisure / Optional Activities

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
After your early morning breakfast set out for a nature walk on the island. In the afternoon you may relax on the beach or relax at the swimming pool, sun bathe, later on you will take the canoe ride around the islands to discover more and experience the fun. You will later return to your accommodation. Camp fires are also offered on days with good weather with specific resorts.
Optional activities at the island may include the following, Quad biking at the Islands, Water bikes at the island, Bicycle riding, Bird watching, visit to the Virgin Island, Steam and Sauna, Massage, Trip to Solar Plant, Boda Boda ride, island rive etc.
Day 3 Transfer Back to Main Land Entebbe
Travel Time from the Island back to Nakiwogo is 3 to 4 hours.
Meal Plan: Breakfast
After breakfast you will board the ferry and return to the main land at Entebbe, your guide drive to your accommodation or transfer to the airport for your late evening flight.
