Day 1 Meet up at Trekkers Hostel Early Morning Ready for the Hike to the Rwenzori Mountains
Samalira Camp
Travel time from Kampala to Kasese town is 6 hours 45 minutes’ drive
Travel time to Trekkers Hostel is 30 minutes’ drive

Hike is 8.6 km taking about 5 to 6 hours, start at 1,667 meters ascending to 3,171 meters
We shall start our rwenzori hiking experience at around 8:00 am or 10:00 am with a walk to the UWA ranger post which is at 1,727 meters covering up 2.2 km. while here we shall be briefed by the ranger guides.
Our walk will start through the montane forest with ferns decorated below amidst the tall trees along a steep climb for the first kilometers, we shall come across a ridge decorated with few rocks. The forest area is more virgin and is home to a number of animals and birds species with diversity in flora. The area is a whisper of the wild with a number of black and white colobus monkeys and blue monkeys amidst the trees at about 2570 meters. You will also go through the sine hut at 2,596 meters and here you shall find a number of attractions such as the forest and the water falls after which you proceed to the steep zones near the dense bamboo. Approaching 3000 meters attitude, you will go through giant heather trees covered with moss. When you reach the top the ridge is Samalira camp at 3,147 meters. And with no doubt at such an altitude, it offers spectacular views of the far beyond attractions like Lake George and Queen Elizabeth National Park and Kasese Town on the look around below. Day 2 Climb to Kalalama Camp at 3,153 Meters
Hike is 6.9 km taking about 4 to 5 hours ascending to 3,153 meters

After your early morning breakfast you will start the trail which becomes steeper as you enter the dense bamboo zone. You shall come across streams that result from the glaciers 0f the snow Peak Mountains, through ridges covered with moss blended with the giant heather trees. After a relatively short hike this trail becomes less steep leading you to the valleys decorated with the giant lobelia.
After a hike through rocks covered with moss we shall proceed on the trail reaching Kalalama camp at 3,153 and while here you will still have stunning scenic views of Lake George, Queen Elizabeth National park as well as KIlemebe in the valleys below.
We shall refreshen after your hike, have dinner and overnight
Day 3 Descend Back to the Foothills of Rwenzori
Accommodation: Kalalama Camp
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Descending back is 6 km taking about 3 to 4 hours
After your breakfast at Kalalama Camp, we shall descend on the windward side of the mountain through the bamboo, afro montane and on reaching down at the ridge we shall cross a stream and then down to the rangers post. We shall then walk to trekkers Hostel making the end of our 3 day adventure hiking expedition in the Rwenzori Mountains.

General Tips on your safaris:
- Health is key all trekkers. Fitness is the greatest necessity for all treks in the Rwenzori’s
- Please don’t forget to carry your medicine in case of some illness
- Booking of your gorilla and chimpanzee permits is done in advance in order for you not to miss out on the experience when permits are fully booked.
- A porter can be hired in case you want to be carried for trekking, bags. For the trekking porter or helper, a fee of US$ 15 is charged
- Follow your guide while on this hike
- Optional visit to Bigodi wetlands for a walk is recommended depending on your arrival in kibale
- Crater lakes visit and Amabere cultural experience can also be explored with an extra day.
- Clients should tip according to their satisfaction.
- Please let us know if there are specific desires that you may require.
- Rain gear are also ideal and heavy jackets when it gets chilly
- The package does not also include personal expenses outside the package arrangement

What to bring on your safari:
- Rubber Boots/ Hiking shoes, trousers and rain gears or rain coats and cloth gloves
- Comfortable rubber boots for the Mountain Trek and also for the hike at the caves and crater lakes in fort portal
- We also advise that you have backpack covers in case of any rains
- Mosquito repellent
- Sun screen is recommended
- Drinking during the trekking experience
- Camera, extra batteries plus a water proof bag
- Carry warm sleeping bags, head gears and hand gloves for cold weather conditions
Important Information on your Mountain Climbing Safari
- Accommodation is a blend mixed with of both huts and permanent tents on the trail. The huts have bunk beds with mattresses, tents have mattresses and a warm sleeping bag is recommended.
- Equipment: Harnesses, crampons, caribinas, ice axes, helmets, rubber boots are a must have and ropes are all provided free of charge.
- Temperature can go as low as -2 degrees above 4000 meters and 5 degrees below 4000 meters and highest of 15 degrees which mainly around 2900 and 3500 during day.
- Drinking water can be boiled up the mountain or use of water purifiers
- Porters will be carrying your luggage maximum weight 15kg each, we advise that you carry a big backpack which the porters will be carry and a day pack for your personal staff and 2 porters are provided per client
- Extra porters can be organised at an extra fee of $15 per day.
- Guides / Rangers will always be provided that is 2 or more. The guides are all well trained, with first aid skills, guiding skills, evacuation skills, flora and fauna, abseiling, cooking, safety & security and customer care.
- Insurance is mandatory for all treks and all clients should buy their insurance before arrival covering Medivac and evacuation at an altitude of 4000 metres and above. It’s not included in the Package
- Equipped with stretchers and a first aid box and always have a satellite phone on all treks.
- First aid is provided to avoid severe illness or sickness.
- In case of an emergency porters will help you down the mountains. If it requires being transferred to the airport or hospital
