The 2-day gorilla trekking safari from Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park gives you a chance to enjoy a scenic drive from Kigali to Bwindi through the serene environment and the rolling plains of the region.
This amazing trip starts right with your airport pick up from Kigali International Airport with a transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The park is located in south western part of Uganda with a shorter drive of about 4 to 5 hours from Kigali.
You will embark on your gorilla trekking from the closest sector from Kigali. This begins with a pick up from Kigali with a transfer to Bwindi via the border through Kisoro or Kabale, it all depends on your location. Your trip starts and ends in Kigali with a road trip on both transfers.
One would wonder why Gorilla trekking in Uganda?
It is cheaper to track the gorillas in Uganda that is a permit costs 700 USD compared to the one in Rwanda which costs 1500 USD. Hence your trip becomes cost effective, affordable and at the same time saving, memorable when you trek from Uganda the Pearl of Africa.

Travel time by road from Kigali to Bwindi is 3 to 4 hours or less and from Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable is 9 to 10 hours. Hence travel from Kigali to Bwindi saves on time spent travelling.

You will be transferred from Kigali capital to Bwindi National Park with a pick up by our tour guide from Kigali International airport or location at the hotel in Kigali capital and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, we shall pass via katuna. You will sight scenic views of Lake Mutanda. The East African visa can be got online or at the Kigali International Airport for a fee of 100$. You shall have dinner and sleep over at the lodge or Hotel.
Day 2 Gorilla Tracking at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park & Kigali Transfer
Travel time from Bwindi to Kigali is 3 to 4 hours
Meal Plan: Breakfast & Lunch
After your morning breakfast, you will transfer to the briefing centre by 7:00am for registration for a gorilla trekking and be informed about the guidelines of the gorilla trekking. After being registered to a gorilla group you will meet the ranger guide and start the trek into the Bwindi Impenetrable forest. Rubber boots are essential on the trek. You will trek (trekking could take 1 to 4 hours or less before facing the gorillas) through the forest before you come face to face with the giant gorillas and observing the gorilla will take only 1 hour. After seeing the gorillas and taking pictures on this memorable safari, you return to meet the driver guide and transfer back to Kigali
Brief about Bwindi
Bwindi National Park, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a home to the endangered giant mountain gorillas and it covers about 321 square km between 1,160 meters and 2,600 meters above sea level. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park has 4 gorilla tracking sectors that is Buhoma in the north, Ruhija in the east; Rushaga in the south and lastly Nkuringo in the south west. And with about 19 habituated gorilla families.
Did you know you could come close to the gorilla as 7 meters and at times the baby gorillas swing right next to us. At the end of the Gorilla memorable trek, you will return to the park headquarters to pick your certificate.
It is important to keep the recommended distance while observing the gorillas.

General Tips on your Gorilla safaris:
- Health is key all trekkers as its key to have your safari and trek the gorillas in a heath condition. Usually clients with infectious diseases like flu are not allowed to track reason being it can easily affect the endangered giant chimps or gorillas.
- The age limit for gorilla tracking is 15 years and above.
- Booking of your gorilla and chimpanzee permits is done in advance in order for you not to miss out on the experience when permits are fully booked.
- A porter can be hired in case you want to be carried for trekking, bags. For the trekking porter or helper, a fee of US$ 15 is charged
- Your flash must be off during photography.
- The recommended distance between clients and gorillas is important for safety
- It is important to keep the recommended distance from the gorillas
