19 Days Round Uganda Wildlife Safaris

Your 19-day East, North and western Uganda wildlife safari leads you to the Source of the Nile experience in Jinja offers you a boat cruise to the source of the Nile. The Nile River is the longest river and while here you will sight a number of birds while on your boat ride. River Nile flows for a distance of 6500 as it meanders to the Mediterranean Sea through number of animals.

The Nile River has a range of activities starting from the white water rafting, Bungee jumping, kayaking, boat cruises to the source of the Nile, spot fishing and so much more like City tours, quad biking and horse riding.

Sipi Falls is a series of three waterfalls in Eastern Uganda in the district of Kapchorwa, northeast of Sironko and Mbale. The waterfalls lie on the edge of Mount Elgon National Park near the Kenyan border. The Sipi Falls area is the starting point for many hikes up Mt. Elgon with the highest water fall having a drop of 100 meters high.

Kidepo Valley National Park Covers 1,442 square kilometers, and the park’s altitude ranges between 914m and 2,750m above sea level.

On our 19-day wildlife safari we get to Kidepo Valley National Park which is also known for having large herds of African cape buffalos and rare animals like the cheetah which is the fastest land mammal and the ostrich which is the fastest flightless bird.

Kidepo Valley National Park was gazetted as a national park in 1962 and the park is home to over 77 mammals as well as around 475 bird species.

Kidepo Valley National Park lies in the rugged, semi-arid valleys between Uganda’s borders with Sudan and Kenya, the park is 700 kilo meters from Kampala.

Kidepo valley national park can also be accessed by both Flight and Road from Kampala to Kidepo Valley National Park, travel time being 10 hours drive and by flight 1 to 2 hours scenic flight with the rolling plains of the area, Kidepo valley national park is remote yet the most amazing park that gives you a feel of a real African safari experience through landscape, wildlife, game drives through the Narus valley, cultural experience with the people (Karamojong’s) living around the park. Not forgetting the hike to mount Morungole and the indigenous Ik tribe in the mountain’s.

These are both similar to the Masai of Kenya, the IK are believed to be the indigenous occupants of the Morungole mountain ranges region of Uganda.

The Kidepo Valley National Park harbors two rivers that is Kidepo and Narus river and these disappear in the dry season, leaving just pools of the Narus valley and these are also near Apoka Safari Lodge.

Kidepo valley is Uganda’s most isolated National Park in the remote but stunning wilderness, Karamoja in Kidepo makes it magnificent right from the savannah landscape. The park has a number of lodges ranging from Budget, Midrange and Luxury such as Apoka Safari Lodge, Savannah Lodge, Ngamoru Wilderness camp and the Uwa Bandas.

Murchison Falls National Park lies at the northern end of the Albertine Rift Valley with a size of 3,840 km2. The park is divided by river nile resulting to the northern and southern sides of Murchison falls park, the northern side is dominated by savannah and its where game drives take place while the southern side is occupied by forest cover. Murchison Falls National Park was gazetted in 1926, it is Uganda’s largest and oldest conservation area, being home to 76 mammals and 450 birds. Murchison Falls Nile waters surge in a 7-meter gorge, which plunges 45 meters over the remnant rift valley rocks, creating the most powerful Murchison Falls. The riverbanks attract a number of wildlife and these include elephants, giraffes and buffaloes, hippos in a profusion of Nile crocodiles and aquatic birds such as kingfishers and African fish eagle.

Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is located in Nakasongola district and is home to the only wild rhinos in Uganda with about (22) southern white rhinos. The rhino sanctuary is 176 km (100 miles) north of Kampala on the Gulu highway towards Murchison Falls branch off at Nakitoma Trading center 3 hours drive from Kampala. Apart from Rhino Trekking, we can also engage in a Shoebill Trek and Canoe Ride, Bird Watching, Night Walk, Nature Walk while at the sanctuary.

Kibale National Park is located in Western Uganda with 766 square kilometres in size and is located between 1,100 metres to 1,600 metres in elevation.

The Chimpanzees in Kibale National Park are over 1000 and the park is also known as the primate capital of the world. The rainforest of Kibale has over 13 primates such as the vervet Monkeys, Colobus Monkey and Grey-cheeked Mangabey among others.

Chimp permits should be booked in advance to secure your tracking experience. Kibale forest is also a good spot for chimpanzee habituation which gives you much time with the chimps in their jungle and this can also be booked on request.

Semuliki National Park with a Size of 220km² with an altitude of 670 to 760m above sea level.

It is found in Bwamba County in Western Uganda in Bundibugyo district just near Fortpotal town 70 km. Semuliki National Park harbours an extension of Congo’s Ituri Rainforest.

Semuliki Forest Reserve history runs back to the year 1932 when it was created and later on gazetteed to Semuliki national park in 1993. The park is home to over 441 bird species and 52 mammals. 
Four ethnic groups live near the park that is Bwamba along the base of the Rwenzori while the Bakonjo cultivate the mountain slopes. Batuku cattle keepers in the open plains and Batwa pygmies, traditionally hunter gathers, live on the edge of the forest.

Semuliki National Park is home to over 52 species of mammals such as buffalos, vervet monkeys, elephants, white tailed mongoose, over 400 bird species in diversity of tree species. Semuliki national park also known to be a good birding for bird lovers, birds such as the Congo serpent Eagle, Long Tailed Hawk, Nkulengu Rail, Black Wattled Hornbill, Red billed Helmet shrike, Ituri Batis and the black winged starling among other birds that may be sighted.

Sempaya hot springs. The magnificent female hot springs have high temperatures of about 100 degrees Celsius and this is as a result of geothermal energy beneath the earth’s crust. Semuliki is also home to a male hot spring that is also worth visiting. The hot springs can of boil eggs and this is usually tried out by clients.

Thatched huts are shaded by West African oil palms, the Semliki River. While Simulink’s species have been increasing in number for over 25,000 years, the Hot springs that are believed to have formed the last 14 million years.

Queen Elizabeth National Park is located in western Uganda with a size of 1,978km². The park was known as Kazinga National Park in 1952, and was renamed Queen Elizabeth II after she visited. The park is home to over 95 mammal species and over 600 different bird species. The Katwe explosion craters in Queen Elizabeth and has existed for a million year as well as the kazinga channel where lakes George and Edward meet to from the kazinga channel that harbor’s a number of animals.

Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of Uganda’s most popular tourist destination with a diverse environment, blended savannah, forests, scenic crater lakes. The park has number of primate species including chimpanzees of kalinzu and kyambura and dozens of scenic craters views of the Kazinga Channel that harbors hippos in a profusion of crocodiles, buffalo and elephants. The southern and sector famously known as Ishasha sector whose fig trees shade the famous tree climbing lions. Queen Elizabeth National Park has communities which can enable us engage into community activities and nature walks.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a bio diverse, mountainous area in southwestern Uganda occupying 331km2 of forest cover in serene forest cover. Bwindi park is covered with shrubs and bamboo and hilltops. The weather in Bwindi is ever chilly because of the immerse canopy. And shared by three districts in the Albertine rift valley, Kabale, Rukungiri and Kisoro. Its home to the largest number of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, which feed on roots, leaves and fruits from the parks diverse trees and fern species. Restricted numbers of viewing permits help protect the endangered gorilla families.

Bwindi Impenetrable national park is home to 120 mammals, 350 bird species, reptiles, and a number butterflies and tree species. It is important to note;

Bwindi National Park, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a home to the endangered giant mountain gorillas and it covers about 321 square km between 1,160 meters and 2,600 meters above sea level. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park has 4 gorilla tracking sectors that is Buhoma in the north, Ruhija in the east; Rushaga in the south and lastly Nkuringo in the south west. And with about 19 habituated gorilla families.

Lake Mburo National Park is smallest among Uganda’s park and its located in western part of the country along Kampala – Mbarara High way in the districts of (Mbarara, Isingiro) Lake Mburo National park is also blessed with over 5 lakes with in the national park, that is both open lakes and swampy lakes and the park forms partly a 50km-long wetland system linked by a swamp There is also diversity of flora and fauna. Expect to see zebras since the park is also known for its Zebras, Antelopes like the topi and elands, Hippos, crocs and a number of bird species

The park is 370 square kilometers with an elevation is at 1,220m – 1,828m above sea level. Wetland habitats comprise 20% of the park’s surface and being on of Uganda’s savannah national parks and underlain by ancient Precambrian metamorphic rocks which date back more than 500 million years. Once covered by open savanna, Lake Mburo National Park now contains much woodland. In the western part of the park, the savanna is occupied with rocky ridges and forested gorges as well as lush vegetation.
